View HEIC Images in Windows

Apple devices such as iPhones and iPads take photos in HEIC format by default, and Windows 10 does not include a way to read these files so you might have trouble viewing them.

To fix this, you can install the HEIF Image Extensions from Microsoft which will allow you to view these images.

If you are running Windows 11, this does not apply to you because the extension comes built-in.

LIVE Photos are also not viewable on Windows PCs - in order to see these pictures, they must be converted from a LIVE photo to a normal JPEG on the iPhone or iOS device it was taken on.
